Pinterest Ads: Do you use them?

27 November 2024

In the world of Digital Marketing, we are seeing complete dominance in this Billion Dollar industry. Two tyrants have seemingly demolished all competition in the world of advertising, those two being Meta & Tiktok, with highly customisable software, simple and effective software and budget friendly software, you can see exactly why these two giants have dominated the $733 billion dollar industry. In fact, Meta by itself accounts for 23.4% of the USAs ad revenue, and Tiktok on the rise with an increase of 184.4% from the year before, So with this information, is there room for competitors to grow? Surely not, right?

Well, that’s the narrative currently being used. However, as technology rapidly advances, we are seeing new software that exceeds Meta’s existing software entirely, but of course, this is not what bridges the gap of success in this industry. Meta and Tiktok did not form their success from the quality of their software, but instead the audience that comes with it. In 2024, across all of Meta’s platforms (Messenger, Instagram and Facebook) the cumulative number of daily Meta users reached 3.016 billion people, and for Tiktok ... 1.85 Billion, which is 10 - 45 percent of the global population. And with these figures, no other organisation comes close.

However, with all good comes bad, although Meta and Tiktok have established an already incredibly remarkable following, this immense popularity creates opportunities for up and coming organisations to effectively exploit. This oversaturation not only intensifies competition but also makes it harder for ads to stand out, creating doubt amongst the consumers. This often forces brands to either accept their losses or explore alternative platforms and strategies for more effective advertising solutions.

With this in mind, large organisations such as Pinterest have already taken advantage of this, with large investments into their own advertising software, they plan to become a popular alternative to the already existing giants, using their platform to reach an untapped market that is ready to utilise. Sounds good right?

Well it doesn't just stop there. In the past year Pinterest (as a platform) has grown over $3 Billion since last year, and in 2025, they plan to grow by $4.2 billion. Pinterest is slowly becoming an understandable, safe and reliable platform to invest time, money and energy.

Now, am I saying to just use Pinterest ads? Well no, I still strongly believe in Meta and Tiktok, I mean who wouldn't? But what I would say is that Pinterest might just be a better option for new upcoming businesses. With less competition, increasing figures and statistics and an all round improved software, growth is inevitable. So with all this in mind, will Pinterest Ads take over Meta?
