Why you should use video CV's

You'll have seen our recent job opening, and being who we are at Natterjack Marketing, we decided to shake things up when it came to finding our next hire. 

Instead of the traditional CVs, we asked candidates to send us a video CV. The role is content creator, so it was a chance for us to see their skills in real time and the results were nothing short of well, wow!

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨?

For this role, a traditional CV felt impersonal and two-dimensional. Our business is based on people, so we wanted to see beyond the written word and truly understand the individuals applying for our roles. We gained a real sense of their personality, their skills and creativity, and how they might fit into our growing team.

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

1. Candidates felt more at ease recording their experiences and qualifications in their own space, at their own pace. This resulted in more genuine and confident presentations.
2. Candidates had the chance to highlight their strengths and unique qualities in a way that a traditional CV might not allow. They could tell their story, share their achievements, and explain their career aspirations directly.

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐬

1. We gained a richer understanding of each candidate. Seeing someone speak passionately about their work provided us with insights into their communication skills, energy, and fit for our team culture.
2. The process itself was engaging for us. We found ourselves more connected to the candidates and more excited about the potential they brought to our company.
3. The videos helped us quickly identify standout candidates, streamlining our process and making it more efficient.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭

One candidate shared a story about a challenging project they managed with real time enthusiasm that would never have come through in a written document. Another showcased their animation skills by integrating creative elements into their video. These unique touches gave us a fuller picture of who they were and what they could bring to the Natterjack Marketing table.

𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭?

Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback and the success we've experienced certainly for our creative roles, video will be a permanent fixture in our process. It's a testament to the power of embracing new technologies and methods in recruitment. It totally aligned with our values of innovation, creativity, and authenticity.
