Exciting LinkedIn changes!

11 July 2024

We're hearing all kinds of rumours about LinkedIn gearing up for some exciting changes in 2024. Hereโ€™s a rundown of what to expect and how you can get ready for these updates stay ahead of the curve.

Following in the footsteps of TikTok and Instagram Reels, LinkedIn will prioritise short-form video content. Expect to see the introduction of an infinite video scrolling feature, similar to TikTokโ€™s endless stream of content.
Action: If youโ€™re already creating short-form videos for other platforms, start sharing them on LinkedIn. This could include โ€œday in the lifeโ€ videos or quick, insightful snippets that offer value to your audience. So yes, this does mean you will see more of the NJ team in vids on LinkedIn!

LinkedInโ€™s algorithm will favour posts that are personal and relatable. Sharing lived experiences rather than generic advice will resonate more with your audience. For example, instead of listing marketing tips, share your personal journey and the strategies that worked for you.
Action: Craft posts that weave in your personal experiences. This authentic approach will not only engage your audience but also boost your visibility on the platform, think my last post on why we used video CV's in our hiring process.

LinkedIn will prioritise content from personal pages over company pages. This means individual posts will see higher engagement rates. Did you know C-suite posts get 23% more engagement than those from other employees?
Action: Encourage your team, especially those in leadership positions, to actively post and engage on LinkedIn. I'm forever telling our clients their personal touch can significantly amplify a brandโ€™s reach and influence.

Hashtags will lose their importance on LinkedIn. This change simplifies content creation by allowing you to focus more on the message and less on hashtag strategy.

LinkedIn remains unmatched in its professional demographics, making it the ideal platform for targeting senior executives. Posts that specifically call out high-level professionals will benefit from LinkedInโ€™s robust targeting capabilities.
Action: Tailor your content to address the interests and challenges faced by senior professionals in your industry. Directly engaging this audience can lead to higher engagement and potential business opportunities.

I'll be keeping an eye on all of you to see who's taken notice of this advice!
