Businessmen and women are encouraged to have a LinkedIn account that they actively use, but why should everybody have an account, even if they are ‘just’ an apprentice or uni graduate?

Gone are the days when LinkedIn was just for businessmen and women in high up jobs and go to work all suited and booted! LinkedIn is now a platform for everyone, and one everyone should be taking advantage of.

LinkedIn is your biggest networking opportunity, this is where you can meet potential colleagues and clients. It also allows you to connect with other like minded people, other people who work in the same industry as you, or those who work in the industry you dream about working in.

It is a platform where you can share your achievements, just passed an exam? Share it! Just sealed a new contract or client? Share it! This is great for potential new clients or recruiters to see, they can see you demonstrating your knowledge and expertise and they build trust in you as a person or company.

LinkedIn is also an excellent research tool. Find out about potential employees by searching for them, however be aware that when you view someone's profile they get a notification! Want to know more about a competitor or a company that you would like to work for? Search for them.

Looking for a new job opportunity? LinkedIn is a great job board. As mentioned above, the platform is used by recruiters, jobs could be shared by the companies you follow and by the people you connect with.

Another tool that LinkedIn offers is endorsing, your connections are able to endorse you for your skills. These endorsements can be seen by anyone who views your profile.
